Momma's Book Shelf

My Momma's offered many pieces of advice through the years, with patience and love she shared her wisdom with us and sometimes I listened, and regretfully, sometimes I didn't. Now I think back and her words are like sweet echos in my heart. I hear them constantly and they surround me like a warm and gentle hug.

When creating this piece,I somehow wanted to incorporate her words of advice through the years, hoping perhaps, that in someway they were like books on a shelf that I could pick up and ponder at. Wouldn't that be absolutely wonderful,a shelf full of books filled with moments and words of those we've loved and lost. Especially moments we never experienced ourselves with them, like books on their childhood and teenage years...makes me smile thinking of it.
I wish I could remember every little word she gave me,but it's ok, I'm thankful none the less for what I do have, thankful for the love I still feel everyday.

I assembled the shelf and added premium paper on the inside.

I glues on cardboard on the back sides and roof.

I distressed the inside and outside of the box to give it an older feel and then added crackle and an antique finish to the cardboard.

Next,I made a selection of Momma's books with chipboard and book text.

I then added some Patina to the brass box by hitting it with a flame and then filled it with some Crochet scraps.

I added some Metallic Lustre to a mini wood frame and included a photo...

and lastly, I glued in all the components.
