A brand new start.

2015 has been about loss,...and love. Gratitude and appreciation. Patience and prayer. Friendship and Growth. Family and Commitments. It has been an ever evolving year, a year of transformation and continued rebirth and with each passing day the light I see becomes clearer and brighter and warmer. It's a process, I get that now,like a brick to the head,I get it.

(this is my new mug from Kecia. It reads "Blessed" on the other side,but it was the angel that first caught my eye,I call her my Momma angel)

Every year I pick a word or a phrase that helps me to stay focused,helps me to find my way. And when I pick it,I put that word/phrase everywhere. On my fridge,in my car,in my wallet,in my art room...it's everywhere.

My phrase for 2016 is .."Still Becoming"...

and I want to see it everywhere,so the first thing to change was my website banner and I used some delicious stamps from Viva Las Vegas Stamps.

I first stamped the images on to white card stock and then took pictures of each one.

I uploaded each image to Photoshop...

I then used the Magic Extractor tool to remove everything but the black image.

I then saved the files as Png's

and headed to the photo editing program Pic Monkey and created assorted banners in the Design Tool.

I ended up with one below and I really love the way it came out!

I turned the banner into a Png File. You can see how it looks on my website here.

It's been so very long since I've scrapbooked,but lately,the urge to give it another try was a strong one. And I'm so glad it because Scrapbooking really isn't what it used to be. It's now full of texture and dimension and paint and so much more. Below I used a Flower stencil from Stencilgirl products and the wonderful butterfly Cut Outs from Retro Cafe Art. I added texture paste,color and just I LOVE the way it came out!

Plus there are many new projects(both personal and art life)I have planned for 2016.

In my heart I feel open to what ever comes.

I am willing to do the work.

I am ready for all the lessons.

Tis the Season

There is just something magical about this time of year. Perhaps its the youthful playfulness that fills the heart and brings you back to younger days. For me, ...I remember the days of endless Christmas music filling the house, and the white and happy lights of the Christmas tree, and especially holding the warm mug of hot cocoa after a cold wet day of playing in the snow. Such happy memories, they come back to me, like precious gifts.

First I added card stock to the inside and outside of the Hutch shrine. I then added a bead of glue along the inside and added glitter.

I then added multiple layers of glitter to the trees and after I put them in their notches,I covered the bottom of the trees in glue and thick glitter that looked like snow.

I cut out a vintage image from collage sheet #DP239 and added some glitter detail

I then added Silver Dresden to the outside of the box

and snowflake embellishments along with a Black Chipboard sticker.

Late to the party...is better,than not going at all.

I feel like I've arrived late to the party...I mean the "Day of the Dead" Party.

Last year,for the first time someone explained the festival of the "Day of the Dead" and I thought it was really quite beautiful.This doll,started off as a witch,but I was also working on some skull charms(made out of the skull collage sheet and layers of resin) at the time and I was inspired by them to transform my witch into a Frida/Day of the Dead Inspired doll.

I may be late to the party,but at least I showed up right.Heehee

I first painted this large angel with black spray paint. Using Deco Arts Crackle I applied it using the stencil and let dry.

I added some "witchy" black eyes and lips to the face cut out...

then added Deco Arts Fluid paint( I used Primary Magenta & Primary Yellow) to the crackle and glued on the face and bat wings for the collar.

This is when my idea took a new direction. Using a fine sharpie I tried to copy the skull resin charm I made.I glued on a flower crown and later added some of the fluid paints to the flower to help them match a bit more.

I made a simple skirt using some of the fabric I made in a recent class with Tracy Stillwell and Midge Baudouin at Art More Place. Melbourne Fl.

Next, I added black spray paint to a small decorative frame and heart and used a pen to outline.

and did the same with the wings that came with angel.

I later decided to add some toole to the back of the head.

and then she said

I'm finished.

Pebeo Prisme Fantasy Paint

I love texture! I especially love texture that's easy to achieve...I'm lazy like that...heehee

When I first discovered Pebeo Fantasy paint I instantly fell in love with it...

I mean all you do is apply it and let it dry.As it dries it creates this yummy crater effect.Last year I used it on some chip board puzzle pieces(the pieces had to be sealed first so that the paint would not sink into the chipboard) and I loved the way they came out and was fortunate enough to get them published. The blue one always reminds me of Van Gogh's Starry Night.

Recently I started working on some Tombstones for a swap with Retro Cafe. I made these about for different ways and I just wasn't happy with any of them. Then I thought about the Pebeo. So I turned my tombstones over and added one color of paint,then dropped in smaller drops of another color. Then I took a toothpick and gently swirled the paint around. I just loved the way the came out.

When they dried,I added a wonderfully wicked image of Mr Poe, some of his words and black chipboard cut outs.Then I sealed it completely with Modge Podge. Lastly, I covered all the pieces in Clear cast and sprinkled on star glitter and micro beads.
