Derby Car Collaboration

Amazing artist and friend,Tina Walker recently asked if anyone would be interested in doing a Derby Car makeover...I just thought it was a wonderful fun new idea so I jumped at the chance. 

When I was 17, I spent the summer as a camp counselor in upstate New York.I was part of the "design team" for the camp and one of tasks we had to accomplish, was to make a Batman Car out of the cafeteria salad bar....heehee...yes, it was quite a challenge,but tons and tons of fun.My Derby car is inspired by that Batman car...smooth and slick and ready to roll.

I first painted the car this yummy Seaglass color.My original plan was to use the rectangle piece,but later decided against it.

I then covered it in sparkly black and glitter cardstock...

Then using a circle punch I cut out some circles and added some embossing powder design and rub ons...

Next I used some Dylusions Sprays to create a vibrant sunrise color and cut out more circles and stars and glued them on to my design. I also added text and dimensional dots.

Lastly, I cut out some wings,glues them on and assembled the car.

Birdy Talk

While creating,  these two happy little winged friends,began chatting about this and about that.

They each expressed strong opinions on how little Birdy's should spend each waking moment...one birdy quietly whispered... "if we are true to who we are,our heart will not lead us astray". The other little birdy shouted, and with his wing flapping said..."Dare,...despite the fear, dream and dream big"!!

Personally...I think they both offered good advice.

I first covered the birdy's body and wing in book text.

I glued the stand to the base...

and when dry I added some distress ink with a bristle brush.

Next I added all sorts of findings to the bottom like paper flowers,fun mushrooms,coconut fibers and a frame charm that I embellished with paper and rhinestones.

Then I glued on the wing as well as tea stained cheese cloth and a button.

I added German glitter to the crowns and the tail of the birdys.

I then added rub on words and text...

and because something was missing I added black polka dot card stock to the stem.

I finished them off by adding a liquid dot eye, stitching on a fabric trim and sweet butterfly buttons!

Sweeeeeet Solder Charms

Blessed to make some new friends and re-connect with some old ones in my Sweet Solder Charm mini class last night at Art More Place!

Momma

She lives in that part of the sun that you can only see when your eyes are shut. When your sitting comfortably in an outside chair head propped upward,sun beating down,warmth radiating through you, and eyes are shut. You see it,still feel it,the shadows of the light and dark,even when your eyes are closed...and it is there that she lives now.

She's in a place so close,so dear, smiling and watching every moment.

My sweet and gentle Momma now smiles down to us from above.Thankful for every minute with her and for God choosing her to be our Momma.
