Art Life

I'll openly admit...I like to work fast...
and when I dont,when I get stuck,
I want to throw something against the wall
and eat a gallon of Rocky Road ice cream!

I suppose I feel this way because Art,
is the one thing in my life that I now feel(because it wasn't always like this)
completely confident about.
I trust my choices and follow my instincts and if someone doesn't like it,
I'm completely ok with it.

That doesn't mean that I don't ask for advice,
that I don't like learning new things.
It simply means that when I create,
I create for me
and no one else.

So when I cant complete something,it's frustrating
because I see it in my head
but my hands cant translate what I want.

But I'm learning...
that not everything happens, the way I want it to happen.
Especially when it comes to art.

I'm learning to walk away.
I'm learning to not get so stuck on an idea.
I'm learning it's ok to re-work and re-work and re-work.
Even if it takes me a month, or two.

This Art Life,is a blessed life.
It teaches more than I ever expected, more than I ever hoped for.
It goes up and it goes down
just like every other corner of our lives.
But this process of becoming
it screams loud
and it screams clear
that  like every journey,
this is a journey
 worth taking.

Of course,walking the line,
doesn't stop me from wanting a gallon of Rocky Road ice cream.

Brass Love

I get into this fix, every once in a while...it's a iity bitty love affair with brass...yes the metal...haahaa..

Perhaps it's the shine that first catches my attention, but that never lasts...because I love to torch and add patina to brass to give it an old vintage feel...

Here's are some of the goodies I created with the lovely stash I picked up from Retro Cafe Arts! Many of my jeweler friends were surprised to hear that RCA also had a nice selection of brass...

Brass,Masonite and soooooo much more!

To get more info on these pieces, you can visit my Etsy Jewelry Shop

If you want to make your own,be sure to stop by Retro Cafe Art...just a warning...working with brass...may be addictive...heehee.
