Use your Wings

“I have come to accept the feeling of not knowing where I am going. And I have trained myself to love it. Because it is only when we are suspended in mid-air with no landing in sight, that we force our wings to unravel and alas begin our flight. And as we fly, we still may not know where we are going to. But the miracle is in the unfolding of the wings. You may not know where you're going, but you know that so long as you spread your wings, the winds will carry you.”
― C. JoyBell

This quote is one of my favorites, especially when Joybell speaks of the "Unfolding".This piece was inspired by the courage we need,(and boy do I need a lot) to loose sight of the shore.

I then added texture to the outside of the house using  RCA diamond and circle stencils and texture paste.I then covered the house in Gesso.

I painted it and distressed it...

and finished it with flickering a watered down Gold Metallic Lustre.

I then added paper and ink to the inside of the house.

I created a nest on the top portion of the house filling it with eggs and trim and coconut fibers.I then  sealed the bottom layer, preparing it for resin.

I poured one layer of Amazing Clear Cast and let it cure for about an hour then added Mica chips and a sealed image of a girl. When fully cured I added a second layer of resin as well as sprinkling in some glitter and confetti stars.

For more dimension I added assorted findings like flowers, trim and a sweet pocket watch with a vintage crochet button.

I finished with some small scalloped Dresden Trim and toned it down with black watered down paint.

I'm really happy with the way this piece came out. It's a small piece, but it's jam packed with artsy goodness!
