Tea Dye,Fiber Art,and Rust..Yea Rust!

I'm pretty sure Hubby thinks I have a screw loose somewhere..tubs of tea dying gauze and lace on the windows..

..and with all this beautiful gauze lying around I simply had to attempt my first fiber art..It's not finished yet,but thought I would give you a sneak peak..I created it with layers of gauze, fabric, beads, stitch work and a lovely rusty plate with a clothespin that reads C'est la vie(Such is Life,or That's Life in french)..

I choose that title because the organized chaos in the fibers remind me of life's journey.

I loved the clothes pin so much I made some for my new store on Etsy..

..and speaking of rusty things..I've had a blast experimenting with rust...Ive used a store bought rusting solution, vinegar, beach and at the end of the day,I find that good old lemon juice with salt works best...

As always,
thank you so much for stopping by

Holy cow, no wonder I didn't make good grades in science...I did the same with my Grandma's lace table cloths, they had holes, so I cut them up, tea dyed them and hung them in the Kitchen, love it Cat.

Cat, this piece is so beautiful and sweet...and your first piece of fiber art? How can that be? You are such a natural! I love how you combined so many elements from the softness of the tea stained gauze, to a grungy rust patina! And your clothespins are a wonderful idea!

I adore everything that you have been doing lately & I must know...how do you do the lemon juice & salt for rusting???
I would love to try & rust up some good junk. lol
Smiles,
Susie
Do you soak the pieces in the lemon/salt mix? Good rust is hard to find. Love the tea dyed lace and gauze. Enjoy your day Cat! I'll be back, Connie
