and me feeling a bit queezy sitting next to sweet Barbara...

But I did it..
with Barbara's gentle direction
I created magical seeds,
ready to be planted
into future projects.

and so the only thing left to do
is
share.
Leave me a comment

Yay torches! Would you believe that at my old job on the road crew we were required to light this gigantic weedburner propane torch to light the burners under the pothole asphalt mix to heat it up for shoveling. I was petrified about lighting it. Well I finally got over my fear fortunately and now I use a torch for my lampwork all the time. I've been messing around a bit with torching enamels now too. I have Barbara's book on my ipad. I think it would be so great to take the class in person.
I had a mind to call my business "pure torcher" at one time.
xoxo Kim

PS, giveaway over on my blog too

These are so beautiful! Congratulations to you for taking on such a daunting project!
Cat! You are amazing...always furthering your skills with new mediums! Your little "seeds" are gorgeous. I'm sure they will grow up to become a lovely flower in someones project...hopefully mine! heehee!

Whoah, that's a huge torch!!!!Looks like you had a wonderful time with Barbara and your friend Cindi! The beads you made are beautiful!

I'm a scaredy cat too. Even the idea of using a smaller torch gives me butterflies in my stomach. I really need to take a class with Barbara, but traveling to Florida is out of the question for me. And I'm not the best learner with online classes. I need to have someone show me,and hold my hand...

Beautiful beads! I would not have known you could make these without a kiln, though that thing looks like it could heat a kiln with a one minute blast;-)

It was such fun! I'm so glad that you could go with me. And that we were both silly gooses together about the torches. Anytime you want to go on another learning road trip, just let me know. And I'm happy that you live so close by! I'll put up my blog post tomorrow. And happy birthday, Cat.

I remember using one of those babies back in my day (art school!). It has been a long, long while. I also used a chainsaw - lol! As much as I would love a bead, I think you should keep me out of the magic hat and give those lovelies to a jeweler. xox!

These are amazing. I did enamel work many, many decades ago in high school. Would love to start again. Your beads are pretty, I can see silk ribbons running through them.

You did a wonderful job on your magical seeds. How awesome to be able to take a class like that.

Good for you learning to use a torch. Personally, I have several things I need to torch for a project and have been too much of a chicken to do it!

Smiles~

Hi Cat, Thank you for that wonderful review! You made beautiful things! Sometimes I don't really see the final results of everyone's work, so it's nice to see yours! I loved meeting you. You're a sweetheart and thank you for your thoughtful ... and BEAUTIFUL ... gift! I've been swamped with building details. It's entirely painted now. They're getting ready to start painting the front of the building. I met with the sign guy yesterday. Picked up more paint and track lighting yesterday. It's been a whirlwind. I need a vacation!

Cat, I just hopped over from Cyndi's post. What a small world - all of you together in one place! I know it was a real treat to meet Barbara in person and take her class... now you can add enameling to your great big bag of artistic tricks! ;-) What great photos, btw!
