Wire Wrangling and a Giveaway!

Ever get totally pumped to work on a project and then to your surprise you end up with something completely different from where you started?
This happens to me all the time
and I think it's pretty wonderful!

I love using my "Now that's a Jig" and when Brenda Schweder came out with her new Dvd the "ABC'S of Wire Wrangling" I just new I had to get it!!

Now as you may already know,I love making jewelry, but I also love making all sorts of projects from assemblage work,to fiber work and one of the reasons I enjoy this jig is because it allows me the freedom to not just work on Jewelry, but to make wire shapes that can be used in different projects!

So after watching the Dvd, I decided to make one the fun links she used in her project...
but me and my nutty noggin thought...
what about using the links as a base to make a cage like shape to hold a Relics and Artifacts Milagros Doll.

...of course, here is where my plan went to the birds...you see I had originally planned on making this cage like structure by feeding in and out assorted wires ,covering it with strips of glued book text and finishing it with a layer of resin. My hope was to create a pendant to wear around my neck...

But instead I painted the entire piece in black and added beautiful Color Bloom sprays and Art Ingredients Micro Beads from Prima Marketing!

I fell in love with the piece so much, that I wanted to display it, instead of making it into a pendant,so I used one of Sandra Evertson's shadowboxes, covered it in beautiful Prima papers and glued in the focal.

Now what I loved about this process
was the wide open bank of ideas that came along with it. I made two links on the Now that's a jig and went from there...but the possibilities are endless. With the assortment of pegs you could make all shapes and sizes and you could make jewelry ...or not.

When I contacted Brenda about the piece I made using her jig,
she was so generous
and offered me a Dvd to giveaway to my blog readers!

How cool is that!

So if you want to give wire wrangling a try,
just leave me a comment!
I'll pick a winner Friday the 15th!

...and remember...
when it comes to creating..

"Long ago God drew a circle in the sand exactly around the spot where you are standing right now. You were never not coming here. This was never not going to happen.” — Elizabeth Gilbert

Here's to making every minute count,

Oh wow! I love how it transformed from one thing to another. It's a bit like mad scientist work, right? The piece just looks wonderful against the bright colors in the paper. Brilliantly composed.
